Virat Kohli has recorded many centuries in Test cricket, but until the 2016 tournament, the Indian skipper had not earned a single century in the T20 format. But, amazingly, he played 973 runs and four hundred during the 2016 ongoing season, shattering all significant records with four IPL centuries scored in a single IPL season. He also earned the orange cap for his record-breaking innings.

Kohli’s batting brilliance stood out above all others in that single season. The bowlers couldn’t beat the RCB Skipper. His outstanding performance allowed RCB to finish in the top two in the points table and go to the finals.

Despite finishing the season with an enormous total of 973 runs, Kohli fell short and could not lead the Royal Challengers Bangalore to victory. The innings came in a losing cause, and Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated them in the grand finals.

Virat Kohli got two centuries against the Gujarat Lions and one each against the KXIP and Chennai Super Kings. His fourth century was the best and was against Kings XI Punjab. As one of the explosive opening batsmen, Kohli helped his team to 211 by smashing a century in 50 balls. In the end, it turned out to be more than enough.
